Did you know Canada produces 85% of the world’s supply of maple syrup? The other 15% is from USA.
Did you know 90% of Canadian maple syrup is from Quebec? Ontario produces 4%.
Did you know that maple syrup is produced in late winter/early spring?
Sap flows when there is frosty nights and warm sunny days. Once the weather turns warm enough for buds to form, the sap turns bitter and is not sweet enough for syrup.
Did you know a Sugar maple tree can be tapped to produce approximately 40 litres of sap every year?
Did you know it takes 40 litres of sap to produce 1 litre of maple syrup?
Did you know pure maple syrup has a 66% sugar content? How sweet is that! No additives or water allowed. When you buy real maple syrup, check the label: it must have grade, colour and also the name and address of the producer.
